Guwahati, Oct 7: The Public Works Roads Department (PWRD), Government of Assam, has announced that traffic movement on the Chandmari Flyover will remain closed for three nights in October to facilitate bearing replacement work.
According to an official notice from the Office of the Executive Engineer, New Guwahati Territorial Road Division, the stretch between Guwahati Commerce College traffic point and Chandmari traffic point will be closed from 10 PM to 6 AM on the following dates:
- October 13, 2025 (Monday)
- October 15, 2025 (Wednesday)
- October 17, 2025 (Friday)
During these hours, traffic diversions will be in place through alternate routes to ensure smooth movement and minimise inconvenience.
Alternate Routes Announced:
- Rajgarh – Pub Sarania Road
- MT Road – Bamunimaidam Railway Colony Road
- Mathgharia – Noonmati Road
- Krishnagar – Milanpur Road
Authorities have requested commuters to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with the department during the closure period.
“The flyover’s bearing replacement work is essential for ensuring long-term road safety and infrastructure stability. We request the public to bear with the temporary inconvenience,” the department said in a statement.
With the flyover being one of the key links between Guwahati’s central and eastern zones, the PWRD has assured that traffic personnel will be deployed to assist vehicles along diversion routes and maintain order.
