Guwahati, Oct 10: In a deeply emotional moment, Garima Saikia Garg, wife of the late legendary Assamese musician Zubeen Garg, visited his cremation site in Sonapur on Friday night, joining hundreds of fans and well-wishers gathered to pay tribute to the beloved icon.
Breaking her silence since the formation of the judicial commission, Garima made an emotional appeal for a speedy and transparent investigation into her husband’s death, urging authorities and the public to ensure that “the truth behind Zubeen’s demise must come out.”
Standing before the memorial lit with candles and flowers, Garima also called upon the people of Assam to unite digitally, encouraging everyone to use social media as a platform for justice by posting with a dedicated hashtag (yet to be announced officially).
“Zubeen always belonged to the people, and now it’s the people who must carry his voice forward. Let’s keep him alive through truth, unity, and love,” she said tearfully, addressing those gathered at the site.
The visit comes just days after the Gauhati High Court approved the formation of a judicial commission, headed by Justice Soumitra Saikia, to probe Zubeen Garg’s death in Singapore. The investigation continues under the Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Special DGP M.P. Gupta.
Garima’s presence at Sonapur rekindled emotions among fans, many of whom chanted “Joi Zubeen Da” as she lit a lamp near his memorial. Several supporters echoed her call to keep the digital campaign alive until justice is served.
