Guwahati, Sept 28 (Maha Shashti): Guwahati’s Durga Puja festivities have scaled new heights this year with the unveiling of a grand pandal inspired by Bangkok’s famous Wat Arun Temple, built at an estimated cost of ₹1 crore. The sprawling 130-foot structure houses a 19-foot-tall Durga murti, offering devotees both a spectacular visual treat and a deeply spiritual atmosphere.
Golden Jubilee Celebrations
This year’s puja marks the Golden Jubilee of the organizing committee, adding greater significance to the celebrations. Organisers say the temple-inspired pandal is meant to symbolize devotion, unity, and cultural pride, while also showcasing the artistry of Assamese craftsmen.
Craftsmanship and Vision
All artisans working on the pandal hail from Assam, ensuring the celebration is rooted in local skill and tradition. The design and direction, however, have been led by an expert from Coochbehar, blending visionary planning with the richness of local craftsmanship.
The result is a fusion of Thai-inspired architecture and Assamese artistry, making the pandal one of Guwahati’s must-visit attractions this year.
