Big Day for Assam: Projects Worth ₹18,530 Crore
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Assam today (14 September 2025) to launch and lay the foundation stones of major infrastructure and industrial projects worth over ₹18,530 crore. The visit includes healthcare, connectivity, and clean energy projects across Darrang, Golaghat, and Guwahati.

The Prime Minister began the day by laying foundation stones for projects focused on healthcare and connectivity:
- Darrang Medical College & Hospital
- GNM School & BSc Nursing College
- Guwahati Ring Road Project (to decongest city traffic)
- Kuruwa–Narengi Bridge over Brahmaputra (to boost connectivity and socio-economic development)
Afternoon: Golaghat Projects

PM Modi inaugurated Assam Bio-Ethanol Private Limited’s refinery plant, billed as the world’s first bamboo-based ethanol plant. The plant will use green bamboo to produce ethanol and other by-products, helping India move toward clean energy and benefiting local farmers.
At 2:30 PM, he also laid the foundation stone for the ₹7,230-crore Polypropylene Plant at Numaligarh Refinery. This project will add value to Assam’s petrochemical sector, generate jobs, and strengthen the regional economy.
Honouring Bhupen Hazarika’s Legacy
On Saturday, PM Modi participated in the 100th birth anniversary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika in Guwahati. He paid floral tributes and released a commemorative coin and stamp in his honour.
“Bhupen Da was a great champion of India’s unity and integrity. He dreamt of a prosperous North East and sang for Assam. Today, we are working day and night to realise his dreams,” Modi said.
