Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on January 28 announced clear timelines for the opening of several key flyover projects in Guwahati, outlining when each structure will become operational to ease congestion across the city’s busiest corridors.
The announcements were made during an inspection of the Maharaj Prithu Flyover near the Guwahati Club junction, a critical node linking Ulubari, Rajgarh, and central Guwahati.

Maharaj Prithu Flyover: Opening Schedule
During the site visit, the chief minister said around 98% of construction on the Maharaj Prithu Flyover will be completed by February 28. Following this:

He also announced that an additional arm of the flyover will be extended towards Rajgarh, aimed at improving connectivity and dispersing traffic in central Guwahati.

Providing an update on another long-awaited project, Sarma said the Bharalumukh railway overbridge (ROB) is likely to be opened between February 20 and 22.
The ROB is expected to significantly reduce traffic delays caused by railway crossings and improve movement between western Guwahati and the city core.
Cycle Factory Flyover by Bihu
The chief minister also confirmed that the Cycle Factory Flyover will be completed and inaugurated by Bihu, marking the conclusion of the current phase of flyover construction in Guwahati.
“With the inauguration of the Cycle Factory Flyover, all ongoing flyover projects in the city will be completed,” Sarma said during the inspection.
