GNRC Medical marked its 13th Foundation Day at its North Guwahati campus with the laying of foundation stones for two major healthcare facilities, the GNRC Cardiac Sciences Centre and the GNRC Cancer Care Centre. The ceremony was held in the presence of Deba Kumar Mishra, District Commissioner of Kamrup, who attended as the Chief Guest.
Hospital officials said the expansion aims to significantly strengthen specialised cardiac and cancer care access within Assam and the wider Northeast, reducing the need for patients to seek treatment outside the region.

The GNRC Cardiac Sciences Centre will be a 200-bed hospital dedicated to adult and paediatric cardiac care. While GNRC Medical already offers procedures such as angiography and angioplasty, officials said the new centre will enable advanced and complex surgeries, including Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS).
A key highlight of the upcoming facility is the installation of Northeast India’s first biplane angiography system in the private sector. Hospital authorities said the system will provide faster and more precise imaging with reduced radiation exposure, particularly beneficial for complex cardiac interventions.
GNRC Cancer Care Centre to expand oncology services
The GNRC Cancer Care Centre, also planned as a 200-bed facility, will focus on advanced diagnostics and comprehensive cancer treatment services. Officials said the centre is expected to address a critical gap in oncology care in the region, where patients often face long travel and waiting periods for specialised treatment.

Hospital representatives emphasised that both projects are designed to improve regional self-reliance in tertiary healthcare, especially for life-threatening conditions such as heart disease and cancer.
