CBSE Reschedules Class 10, 12 Board Exams Set for March 3

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a revision in the Class 10 and Class 12 board examination schedule for 2026, rescheduling one paper each that was earlier planned for March 3, 2026. The update was issued through an official notice on January 1.

As per the revised schedule, the Class 10 examination has been moved to March 11, 2026, while the Class 12 Legal Studies examination has been postponed to April 10, 2026, which is over a month later than the original date.

CBSE has rescheduled one Class 10 and one Class 12 board exam originally scheduled for March 3, 2026. The Class 10 paper will now be held on March 11, 2026, while the Class 12 Legal Studies exam has been postponed to April 10, 2026. All other exams remain unchanged.

Class 12 Legal Studies exam postponed

For Class 12, the Legal Studies paper, which was also scheduled on March 3, has been rescheduled to April 10, 2026. CBSE clarified that no other Class 12 subjects have been affected by this change.

Official clarification from CBSE

In its official notice, CBSE stated:

“All other examination dates remain unchanged. Schools are requested to kindly disseminate this information to all concerned students and parents for their information and necessary action please. Date Sheets are being amended accordingly and the revised dates will also be given in the Admit Cards when issued.”

The board has instructed schools to promptly inform students and parents to avoid confusion and help candidates adjust their preparation plans.

Impact on students in Guwahati and Assam

The change affects CBSE-affiliated schools across India, including those in Guwahati and other parts of Assam. School authorities in the region have been asked to ensure that students are made aware of the revised dates well in advance.

Educators noted that the additional gap, particularly for Class 12 Legal Studies students, may help reduce exam-related pressure.

What happens next

CBSE will issue updated date sheets, and the revised exam dates will also be reflected in admit cards when released. Students are advised to regularly check official CBSE communications and follow instructions shared by their respective schools.
