GUWAHATI, September 24: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the tentative date sheets for Class 10 and 12 board examinations for the academic year 2026, giving students, teachers, and schools across India, including Guwahati, an early roadmap for preparations.
The examinations are scheduled to be conducted between February 17 and July 15, 2026, covering:
- Main Examinations for Classes 10 and 12
- Examinations for Class 12 sports students
- Second Board Examinations for Class 10
- Supplementary Examinations for Class 12
According to CBSE, nearly 45 lakh students are expected to appear in exams across 204 subjects, not only in India but also in 26 countries abroad. In Guwahati alone, thousands of students across prominent CBSE schools—such as Kendriya Vidyalayas, DPS Guwahati, Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti, Royal Global School, and others—will now be planning their academic schedules around this tentative timeline.
Early Schedule for Smarter Preparation
CBSE clarified that the date sheet is tentative and will be finalized once schools submit the list of candidates. However, the board emphasized that releasing the schedule early will help students and institutions prepare systematically.
“This initiative will allow students to prepare structured study plans, help schools align academic and administrative activities, and enable teachers to plan their personal schedules, including vacations, with clarity,” CBSE stated.
Evaluation and Results
CBSE also provided clarity on evaluation timelines. For example, if the Class 12 Physics exam is held on February 20, 2026, evaluation would begin around March 3 and conclude by March 15, ensuring the timely declaration of results.
Why It Matters for Guwahati
Education experts in the city note that the early announcement is particularly helpful for Guwahati students who often balance board exams with competitive tests like JEE, NEET, and CUET. The long exam window also means schools can better manage practicals, revisions, and career counseling sessions for outgoing students.
For parents, the early clarity brings relief as they can now structure vacations, tuition, and financial planning well in advance.
