Guwahati, Oct 6: Assam’s cricket sensation Riyan Parag continues to make headlines as he emerged as the top run-scorer and Player of the Series in India A’s 2–1 triumph over Australia A in the recently concluded unofficial ODI series at Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium on Sunday, October 5.
The 23-year-old all-rounder displayed exceptional form throughout the three-match series, registering fifties in all three games, a rare consistency that underlined his growth as one of India’s most promising young talents.
In the first ODI, Riyan set the tone for the series with a blistering 67 off just 42 balls, propelling India A to an early 1–0 lead. Though India faltered in the second encounter, losing by nine wickets under the DLS method, Riyan stood tall again with 58 runs off 54 balls.
His best came in the series decider, where he struck a fluent 55-ball 62, helping India seal a 2–1 series victory.
Across the three matches, Riyan amassed a total of 187 runs, averaging 62.33 with a fiery strike rate of 123.84. His innings included nine sixes, the joint-most by any player in the series.
“I’ve been working on my shot selection and mental composure it’s about finding that balance between aggression and control,” Riyan said after being adjudged Player of the Series.
With this performance, the Guwahati-born cricketer continues to strengthen his case for a national call-up, especially ahead of India’s upcoming white-ball season.
