“No bigger satisfaction than saving precious lives. Four years back, we started a mission to strictly enforce road safety measures on New Year’s Eve to reduce accidents and save lives,” Sarma said.
Highlighting the outcome, he added:
“The result? Just one unfortunate fatality on 31 Dec 2025. Next target: zero fatalities in 2026.”

According to the Chief Minister, Assam has seen a steady year-on-year decline in road accident deaths during New Year’s Eve:
