Kamakhya Colony Durga Puja Pandal in Guwahati Showcases Unique Jarwa Tribe Theme

GUWAHATI, September 28: As Durga Puja festivities approach, Guwahati has started unveiling its grand and creative pandals. One of the most talked-about this year is at Kamakhya Colony in Pandu, where organizers have chosen a unique theme inspired by the Jarwa tribe.

The pandal’s first look, revealed today, showcases intricate designs that reflect the culture, lifestyle, and heritage of the Jarwa community, one of India’s ancient indigenous tribes from the Andaman Islands. The design blends traditional motifs with modern artistry, giving devotees and visitors a glimpse into the tribe’s unique way of life.

Organizers of the Kamakhya Colony Puja Committee said their intention was to bring lesser-known cultures into the spotlight through art and devotion, while also spreading awareness about India’s diverse heritage.

With finishing touches underway, the pandal is expected to become one of the must-visit spots of Durga Puja 2025.

The city’s residents have started visiting for Maha Shashti (September 28), when the pandal is formally opened for visitors, accompanied by lighting and cultural programs.
