GUWAHATI, September 22: In a significant development, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today addressed the press and announced that the state government has decided to conduct a second autopsy of the mortal remains of legendary singer Zubeen Garg.
The decision comes in response to widespread public demand for further clarity surrounding the circumstances of the cultural icon’s demise in Singapore on September 19. The Chief Minister assured that the move is being taken to uphold transparency and to honor the sentiments of millions of Zubeen’s admirers.
“People of Assam see Zubeen not just as an artist, but as their own family. It is our responsibility to respect their concerns. The second autopsy will be carried out under proper medical supervision,” Sarma stated.
Following the completion of the medical procedures, the government confirmed that Zubeen Garg’s mortal remains will be taken to the cremation ground in Sonapur, where his final rites will be performed. Arrangements are being made to ensure that the public can also participate in paying their last respects before the cremation.
The announcement has further deepened the emotional atmosphere across the state, as thousands continue to gather at various locations to mourn and honor the man fondly remembered as the “King of Millions of Hearts in Assam.”
