Holi Special Trains Announced, Guwahati Gets Extra Services

To manage the expected surge in festive travel, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will operate 14 pairs of Holi Special trains for a total of 128 trips across the zone. Among them, additional services connecting Guwahati with Agartala have been scheduled for March 2026.

While 11 pairs of special trains have been running since February, three more pairs will operate between Tata Nagar–Katihar, Agartala–Guwahati, and Kishanganj–Lalkuan during the Holi period.

Northeast Frontier Railway will operate 14 pairs of Holi Special trains for 128 trips, including additional Agartala–Guwahati services in March 2026. The special trains aim to manage the increased festive rush. Guwahati station has also implemented crowd management and passenger assistance measures for smoother travel.

Agartala–Guwahati Holi Special Schedule

For passengers travelling to and from Guwahati, the following services have been announced:

  • Train No 05628 (Agartala–Guwahati)
    Will run every Thursday from March 5 to March 26, 2026.
    Departure: 7 PM from Agartala
    Arrival: 9 AM at Guwahati (next day)
    Total trips: 4
  • Train No 05627 (Guwahati–Agartala)
    Will run every Friday from March 6 to March 27, 2026.
    Departure: 1:15 PM from Guwahati
    Arrival: 4:25 AM at Agartala (next day)
    Total trips: 4

These services are expected to ease pressure on regular trains during the Holi travel rush.

Tata Nagar–Katihar (5 Trips Each)

  • Train No 08181 (Tata Nagar–Katihar)
    Every Monday from March 2 to March 30
    Departure: 1 PM
    Arrival: 7:30 AM (next day)
  • Train No 08182 (Katihar–Tata Nagar)
    Every Tuesday from March 3 to March 31
    Departure: 10:30 AM
    Arrival: 4:30 AM (next day)

Kishanganj–Lalkuan (4 Trips Each)

  • Train No 05741 (Kishanganj–Lalkuan)
    Every Thursday from March 5 to March 26
    Departure: 8:30 AM
    Arrival: 3:40 PM (next day)
  • Train No 05742 (Lalkuan–Kishanganj)
    Every Friday from March 6 to March 27
    Departure: 8:40 PM
    Arrival: 2 AM (Sunday)

Crowd Management at Guwahati Railway Station

With Guwahati serving as a major rail hub in the Northeast, NFR has implemented additional arrangements at key stations, including Guwahati Railway Station.

Measures include:

  • Strengthened security deployment
  • Systematic crowd management at platforms and circulating areas
  • Additional help desks and on-ground staff for passenger assistance
