Guwahati Airport To Get Terminal 3 Soon, CM Announces

The next phase of expansion at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) in Guwahati will begin shortly, with construction of Terminal 3 expected to start soon, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on February 22.

The announcement was made during the operational launch of Terminal 2 at the airport. The Chief Minister said Terminal 3 will further enhance passenger handling capacity and improve travel experience for both domestic and international flyers using Guwahati as a gateway to the Northeast.

Investment Commitment For Tourism

Highlighting broader development plans, Sarma stated that Assam has secured an investment commitment of around ₹1 lakh crore from the Adani Group.

The proposed investment is expected to support tourism infrastructure, connectivity upgrades and hospitality projects across the state.

While detailed project timelines were not disclosed, officials indicated that tourism development remains a key focus area.
