GUWAHATI, Sept 20: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has confirmed that the mortal remains of Zubeen Garg will reach Guwahati tomorrow, September 21, by 6:00 AM, after completion of official procedures in Singapore and Delhi.
The Chief Minister urged the public to remain patient and respectful, ensuring the process is smooth for both the family and authorities.
The Journey Home
According to the CM, the post-mortem has been successfully completed in Singapore, after which the body will be handed over to the Indian Embassy representatives and Zubeen’s close friends who were with him abroad.
From Singapore, the mortal remains will be flown to New Delhi, and then carried to Guwahati on a special flight.
Final Moments with Family
Upon arrival at Guwahati Airport, the body will first be taken to Zubeen Garg’s Kahilipara residence, allowing his family to spend some private moments with him one last time.
CM Sarma appealed to the public not to create any disturbance during this stage, emphasizing:
“This is the only time the family will get to be with him in private. Once his mortal remains are placed for public homage, they will no longer have that opportunity. Let us give them this dignity.”
Public Homage at Sarusajai Stadium
After the private farewell, the mortal remains of the legend will be taken to Sarusajai Stadium, where fans, admirers, and the public will be allowed to pay their last respects.
Security & Coordination
Guwahati Police and the district administration are coordinating the arrangements to ensure a frictionless process. The Chief Minister requested complete cooperation from the public, stating:
“This is a moment of grief for Assam. Let us honor Zubeen da with discipline, dignity, and love.”
