Night Traffic Curbs Between Cycle Factory–Barsapara in Guwahati

Guwahati: The Guwahati Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory restricting vehicular movement during night hours on a key city stretch due to ongoing flyover construction work. Traffic will be restricted from Cycle Factory Tiniali to Barsapara Tiniali between 11:00 PM and 5:00 AM, starting Friday, February 6, until the work is completed.

The restriction has been imposed in view of the construction of the flyover at Cycle Factory Junction and its extension up to Lalganesh Market on the Guwahati–Garbhanga Road, officials said.

Night traffic movement between Cycle Factory Tiniali and Barsapara Tiniali in Guwahati will remain restricted from 11 PM to 5 AM due to flyover construction. Guwahati Traffic Police have issued diversions and advised commuters to avoid the stretch until completion of work, while emergency services will be facilitated.

Why the Restriction Has Been Imposed

According to the advisory, the nighttime restriction is aimed at ensuring public safety and allowing uninterrupted progress of the flyover construction. The stretch is a crucial connector for western and central Guwahati, and night work is being carried out to minimise disruption during peak daytime hours.

Traffic police have urged commuters to plan travel accordingly and strictly follow diversion routes during the restricted period.

Diversion Routes Announced

To manage traffic flow, alternative routes have been notified:

  • Vehicles from the Arya Nagar / Birubari side
Diverted at Cycle Factory Junction via FA Road → Mora Bharalu Road → Ambari Tiniali → A.K. Dev Road
  • Vehicles from the Lalganesh side
Diverted at Barsapara Tiniali via Kula Basumatary Road (ACA Stadium Road) → Mora Bharalu Road → Dr Bhupen Hazarika Road → Dhirenpara Tiniali → A.K. Dev Road

Traffic police personnel will be deployed at key junctions to guide motorists during night hours.

Emergency Services Exempted

The advisory clarified that ambulances and fire tenders will be allowed to move through the affected stretch when required. Their movement will be facilitated by the Public Works Roads Department, Assam, to ensure that emergency response is not hampered.

Impact on Guwahati Commuters

The Cycle Factory–Barsapara corridor is frequently used by residents of Lalganesh, Dhirenpara, Birubari, and surrounding localities. Night-shift workers, airport-bound travellers, and goods carriers are expected to be the most affected by the restriction.

Authorities have advised commuters to avoid the stretch at night and use the notified diversions until the flyover work is completed.

What Happens Next

The restriction will remain in force until completion of the construction work. Guwahati Traffic Police said further updates will be issued if there are changes to timings or routes.
