Jorhat: Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has announced that the 5th Late Niloy Dutta Inter-Varsity T20 Cricket Tournament for the 2025–26 season will be held from February 10 to 18 at the Assam Agricultural University Ground, Jorhat. The tournament is organised in memory of late Niloy Dutta, an eminent international umpire and former ACA president, remembered for his role in strengthening cricket in Assam.

A total of 12 universities from across the state will compete in the white-ball T20 format, as the association looks to deepen competitive exposure for university-level cricketers.

The Assam Cricket Association will host the 5th Late Niloy Dutta Inter-Varsity T20 Cricket Tournament from February 10 to 18 at Assam Agricultural University Ground, Jorhat. Twelve universities will compete under BCCI Men’s T20 Playing Conditions, with ACA providing accommodation, meals, and official kits.

Platform for University Cricket

According to the ACA, the inter-varsity event is designed to provide a structured, high-intensity platform for students and to promote competitive cricket across campuses in Assam. Matches will be played strictly in the T20 format using white balls.

Participating teams have been instructed to report to the venue at least one day before their scheduled fixtures to complete formalities and acclimatise.

Logistics and Player Support

The ACA will provide accommodation, food, and official match T-shirts for each team. Support extends to 14 players per team, along with two support staff members, ensuring uniform standards across all participating universities.

Playing Conditions and Eligibility

The tournament will be conducted under the BCCI Men’s T20 Playing Conditions for the 2025–26 season, ensuring alignment with national competitive standards set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Only bona fide students of the respective colleges or universities will be eligible to participate. During verification, players must produce:

  • Valid date of birth proof
  • Residence documents
  • Certification of study issued by the head of their institution

ACA officials said the tournament remains a key pathway for identifying promising talent from the university circuit in Assam. With consistent participation and competitive fixtures, the association expects close contests and strong student engagement throughout the nine-day event.

The association added that the Late Niloy Dutta Inter-Varsity Tournament continues to honour the legacy of a cricket administrator who played a pivotal role in shaping the sport’s institutional growth in the state.
